FEATURE STORY
Dear Susan:
I'm writing to tell you how grateful I am to the staff at
the Lawrence Center for their care of my daughter, Emily,
in the weeks following an accident at home last month. In
particular, I would like to commend Jenn Burt, Emily's Toddler
3 teacher.
In mid-October, Emily suffered 2nd
degree burns when boiling water fell off of the kitchen
counter at home, bounced on the floor and onto her leg.
She was treated at Lawrence General and was sent home with
a very nasty, blistering wound, about the size of an adult's
palm. Since she was in good spirits, we wanted to get her
back on as normal a schedule as soon as possible. Heather
and Sally arranged to slow down her planned transition from
the Toddler classroom to the Preschool one, so Emily could
stay in the more closely supervised Toddler room during
her recovery.

Jenn went above and beyond the call
of duty in her care for Emily during this period. Emily's
dressing needed to be changed several times a day, a task
that required skill and dedication. As the debriding process
occurred with the pediatrician over a period of about a
week and a half, Emily experienced a great deal of discomfort,
and at times became extremely clingy and difficult to work
with. Jenn took it all in stride, balancing Emily's needs
with those of the other children in the classroom with great
aplomb.
I was very happy to know that Emily
was in such loving care during a difficult period. Please
let the staff at the Lawrence Center know how much that
meant to our family, and to the success of Emily's recovery.
Infection of the wound is the great concern during the recuperation
from a burn. The care and extra attention given to her by
all the staff during that period helped keep her healthy
and led to an infection-free recovery. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Barbara Norman

Parent Pleased with Haverhill Center Program
"I am writing to let you know what a wonderful job everyone is doing at the NECCO Little Sprouts in Haverhill. Last year I meet Maureen Bly at a Little Sprouts booth that was set up at a Winnekini Castle fair. It was there I learned about Little Sprouts. Maureen told me all about the program and the Reading First Grants. I was very impressed with what she told me and with her as a representative of the school. At that time (last October) our daughter was enrolled in an expensive private preschool. However, we were unhappy with the curriculum and the program. After my discussion with Maureen and a subsequent tour of the Little Sprout facility, my husband and I decided to enroll our daughter.
The transition to Sprout was a little difficult for our daughter, especially since we switched her mid-year, but it has turned out to be a great decision. Maureen has made sure that all of our concerns are addressed and the staff has been so helpful in supporting our daughter. Every contact, communication and meeting with Maureen has been helpful and positive. She is truly a gem. Her attitude is consistently warm, caring and supportive.
We know without a doubt that our daughter’s day is filled with enthusiastic, compassionate and dedicated care. We attribute that to her great teachers and staff like Heidi, Shelly, Christina and Alicia. Moreover, the whole center runs like clockwork, everyone is doing their best, making good decisions and enthusiastically engaged in their jobs.
Maureen does an exemplary job of actually putting into daily practice the values that make the Little Sprout brand as successful as it is. That dedication shows in all she does and is reflected in her staff. I have toured many schools and Maureen is the best I have seen, hands down.
We only wish we would have enrolled our daughter sooner in the program.
Thank you so much for all that you do as well."
Kind Regards,
Nancy Leotta-Lewis

Parent Thankful for Little Sprouts Program
"Congratulations, you have done a great job creating the Little Sprouts program. My son Jonathan Consentino is 13 weeks old and attends the Lawrence facility. The teachers are kind and caring. I saw your picture on the wall and remembered you from high school. I asked one of the teachers if you worked at the center, she said, 'no she owns it'! You should be very proud. Thanks for making a place where I feel safe leaving my newborn son."

Excited to be part of WGBH Partnership
"I had a blast at the Leona event. It was wonderful to actually be part of such an exciting partnership. I’m not only enjoying the Between the Lions curriculum, but feel fortunate to be part of actually implementing and incorporating BTL into our everyday curriculum! I’m especially thankful to actually be at Imajine That because I was able to meet and socialize with the people who are BTL and PEEP. I have a greater appreciation and understanding of what their jobs are, their excitement over these productions, and what their goals are! I also have a bunch of exciting ideas that I can’t wait to bring back to my staff! Thank you for this opportunity."

Parent Impressed with Little Sprouts Program
"I also want to thank you very much for making introductions on my behalf into Little Sprouts. I continue to be more and more impressed with the organization. Everyone I've met has been amazing. I was in Danielle and Efrain's class for just a short time, but saw so many impressive teaching strategies. I think I'll be able to learn a lot from them in the coming month. Whitney also gave me a copy of the employee handbook. I was floored by the amount of training time offered to teachers, as well as prep time and a ton of other great benefits. Not to mention, the focus on Stephen Covey's "7 Habits" philosophy. I'm a huge believer in all things Franklin Covey. I put together an entire training and development program for the employees at my previous company. Franklin Covey was an important part of the training, as well as Dale Carnegie Leadership training. I knew that I was impressed with the school when I was interviewing preschools a year ago, but I didn't realize how many synergies there where between the school and my background. I guess you just have a gut feel when something is a good fit for you and your family."

Thanks for the Opportunity to Serve You
"I wanted to tell you and Susan Leger-Ferraro how much I appreciated serving your entire wonderful group of employee’s last night at Salvatore’s of Lawrence. I had the pleasure of working as your bar tender not only last night but at your 25 anniversary party as well held at Salvatore’s. I had a blast working both parties. I think the work and services you provide are fantastic! Please pass on my sentiments to Susan for me. You’re all such a nice professional group of women. Thank you again."

Little Sprouts Joins the Big Wide World of Peep
"This is AWESOME! I'm so pleased that you are integrating a science program into the classroom experience. Kids LOVE this stuff and it's such a fun way to learn. I've been trying to incorporate more science type projects into our time at home. This past weekend we participated in the Audubon Society's Great Backyard Bird Count. It got us talking about where birds live, what they eat, etc. Plus, we've got some abandoned bird nests in our yard that we checked out and talked out."

Happy Mother of Child at Little Sprouts
"My son Aaron started at Little Sprouts just a little under a year ago. We were obviously apprehensive about putting him in a daycare “center” at 18 months old. My dad had watched him up until that point since both my husband and I work full time. After a small period of “getting to know each other”, Aaron has thrived since being at Little Sprouts! His verbal and other forms of social interaction skills have increased tremendously and he looks forward to going everyday! We are expecting our 2nd son in April and since we are so pleased with how Aaron has enjoyed his time at Little Sprouts we have already decided to bring our new son there as well. Being a working mom is a really tough job and Little Sprouts has made our lives a lot easier by giving us the peace of mind that our children will be well cared for during the day when we need to focus on our ‘other’ careers!"

Employee Reflection to First Days at Little Sprouts
"I find that when I am moving and
growing forward, I am suddenly pulled back to a time or
place that defines who I am and the experience that I
have had.
So I was at Crosspoint today. Whenever
I visit there I reflect upon my time there as a teacher
and AD and wonder how I survived. I have literal growth
pains from working there (okay stretch marks), anyway
I was sitting at the table in the office with Janet chatting,
and Melissa Hubert walked by. Weird. I then closed my
eyes and thought back 10 years ago and remembered this
little girl with big pigtail braids, long flowy hippy
skirt. We were sitting at the same table and I was interviewing
her for a summer camp counselor position. Summer Camp
was my escape from the real world each summer.
As discouraged as I was at Crosspoint, I was extremely
happy and successful at Summer Camp. So Melissa doesnt
have long pig tails, or wear those funky skirts, but she
will always pull me back to that time when I need to go
there.
So, as we move forward and grow as
a company, stop and see those things that we need to see."
Good times High Fives!

Employee Reflection to First Days at Little Sprouts
"Took me a couple days to process
this one. I actually drove by my old apartment in Lowell
and had a memory of every camp counselor standing in my
bedroom waking me up so we could go to Six Flags. I remembered
that feeling of togetherness and knowing that no matter
how the day went at camp that the good would always come
through and the smiles would always be there. Kathleen
definitely left a legacy with camp that I see living on
through our good friend Leanne B. so I think of the title
of the email joy friendship love sounds
like a good motto for our upcoming morale committees.
And I definitely will be asking at the next staff meeting
what was your best time in Little Sprouts and what brings
you back there. Important for us to all look at it. Thanks
for always inspiring me Kathleen and everyone else who
reads this!"

Roxbury Community College Center
"My name is Uldine Tse. My daughter
Nina Tse has two children that attend Little Sprouts at
the Roxbury Community College campus. I wanted to take the
time to tell you how awesome of a staff you have at that
location. I am certain that this is not news to you.
Yesterday was a very trying and emotionally
challenged day. My daughter Nina had a serious emergency
and was unable to pick the children up from day care. I
found out very early on in the day and called Little Sprouts
immediately. The person who answered the phone Ms.
Agnes, was pleasant and professional. Ms. Agnes listened
to my situation and then began to research possible solutions
to the problem.
I have never experienced such care
and attention from anyone. Your staff members, including
your Chief Operating Office Krysta ONeil, who happened
to be on site yesterday were magnificent. I was not listed
on the authorized individuals list who could pick the children
up from daycare and we could not contact any of the individuals
who were authorized to.
Due to the severity and nature of the
incidence Krysta and the staff acted quickly. Krysta left
the establishment and went to my daughters location
to obtain her signature. When I arrived at the daycare at
about 5:45 your staff immediately sprung into action. They
ensured I had a car seat, food and even went as far as driving
us home.
I couldnt have gotten through
the day without your staff yesterday. What should have been
a horrendous day actually went pretty smoothly. I cant
even fully tell you how appreciative I am of all your members.
I met everyone at the same time yesterday; so therefore
please excuse me if I have omitted or misspelled some names.
There isnt anyone that worked yesterday who did not
assist.
Little Sprouts is the best
of the best. I feel truly blessed that my grandchildren
are being cared for by your staff. I have been through many
day cares in my day; but yours takes the cake."
Kudos

Little Sprouts Andover Referral
"One year ago we enrolled our now
4 year old son Gannon into the Little Sprouts community.
Transition is always difficult when a toddler is concerned
but last fall was an especially trying time for our family
as Gannon had just been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
He was in a new school with new faces and now had the
added pleasure of meeting new physicians and nurse educators
on a weekly basis who liked to poke him, prod him, and
take his blood sugar. Gannon was confused, angry, and
very sad that his mom and dad would leave him in such
a scary place called school. Why couldn't he just go back
to his "old school"? he would whimper to us
on a nightly basis. Looking back on the month of September
I can remember thinking that I should just quit my job
and be a stay home dad to just take care of my little
guy. He needed some comfort, some love, and some guidance.
I am writing to you today to extend our deepest and most
sincere gratitude to all of the team members of Little
Sprouts of Andover who have touched Gannon's life. In
this past year we have watched our son grow into a confident,
outgoing, intelligent, and caring little boy. Each day
Gannon comes home with a new story about his fun-filled
day at school and how he amused his teachers with his
creativity. His vocabulary has really blossomed and his
interest in reading is just now hitting its stride. Gannon
has always been quick to pick up a base ball bat or a
soccer ball but now he's working in his puzzles, books,
and numbers without any prompting from mom or dad. This
speaks volumes about the structure and attitude within
the Little Sprouts classrooms.
We have just recently convinced our best friends to join
the Little Sprouts community and would recommend Little
Sprouts to any friends or family members moving to the
area with young children. Little Sprouts offers an extremely
parent-friendly schedule and more than reasonable tuition
rates for any family with 2 working parents.
Please know that Alison Boucher, Kate O'Connor, and Anna
Iodice have been instrumental in working with us to create
a program that works for Gannon's needs in school. Their
dedication to learning, leadership abilities, and hard
work has made it possible for us to immerse Gannon in
the loving and enriching environment at Little Sprouts
Andover."
Sincerely,
Joe & Jen Sylvester
