For 30 years, Little Sprouts has been blazing new trails in early childhood education with literacy-based learning.

30 years of education
Little Sprouts began in 1982 when budding humanitarian, Susan Leger-Ferraro, opened an early education center that reflected her strong belief in the power of literacy to change the world. The families she served loved the nurturing and safe atmosphere combined with the emphasis on literacy, diversity, and laughter, and word quickly spread. New locations soon opened to meet the growing demand. Today, Little Sprouts serves over 1,000 families at 16 locations across Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire—and is still growing!

Award-winning programs
Over the years, Little Sprouts has received many honors and awards from local, state, and national, organizations for its innovative approach to early education. 

• Little Sprouts has been designated a “Preschool Center of Excellence” by the U.S. Department of Education for 9 consecutive years.
• Little Sprouts is a 3-time recipient of the “Early Reading First” grant, one of only 30 schools in the country to receive this grant.

Every Little Sprouts location maintains its focus on making a BIG difference in the lives of the children and families it serves. We create a supportive, nurturing, safe environment to ensure that you always feel confident in your child’s safety, happiness, and well-being. At the same time, we are helping your child build and develop literacy skills across a breadth of areas: reading, math, social and emotional literacy, science, health and physical wellness, and the arts.

The best start to lifelong learning
Our “Budding Scholars” curriculum is helping our children get the best start to school:

• In standardized national assessments, Little Sprouts’ students score 1st nationwide in the two areas that predict future reading success—oral language and alphabet knowledge. 
• 64% of our kindergarten graduates score in the 'Above Average' range in reading proficiency, as compared to 14% of other preschools and 11% of Massachusetts third graders!

Celebrating joy and laughter
Learning should be fun! We believe in celebrating the joy and wonder of childhood in everything we do, with laughter in abundance, to inspire a love of learning. Each Little Sprouts location is specially designed to help your child feel happy and excited about the day ahead, while our educators are experts in making learning fun. We ensure that music and arts are alive in our classrooms, as the children make music and express themselves through movement.

A global perspective
In everything we do, your child will be learning about sharing, respect, courtesy, and listening. We take a global perspective and celebrate the diversity of our Little Sprouts families which represent 56 cultures and 23 languages, with varied social, economic, and religious backgrounds.
