The sounds of children singing will soon be filling the halls of Little Sprouts Child Enrichment Centers thanks to a NEW program called “FUNdamentals of Music and Movement”. Aaron Nigel Smith started FUNdamentals in 2003 in Los Angeles after he realized that many Los Angeles schools, for lack of funding or resources, had eliminated their in-house arts programs. Since then, Aaron has franchised and spread his FUNdamentals program nationally and now, internationally as he has plans to grow his program in schools in China in 2009. Aaron and his FUNdamentals of Music and Movement program can currently be found on location at the child care centers at the Paramount , Sony, Universal and Warner Brothers Studios.

Little Sprouts Child Enrichment Center in Lowell will be showing their support for the March of Dimes by participating in their annual March for Babies Walk on April 26, 2008. This year, the march is being held at the LeLacheur Park in Lowell. This Little Sprouts Center will not only be participating in the walk, but they are also showing their support by collecting donations for the March of Dimes. The center will be collecting donations in three fun ways – 1) Each individual walker will collect donations from family and friends. 2) The center will participate in a “change race” where each classroom will collect change from parents and staff. The classroom that raises the most change will receive an ice cream social for their parents and children. 3) Families and staff are also able to buy a March of Dime donation card for $1.00. Each card will be displayed throughout the halls of the center to help represent the support that families are giving to such a great cause. All of the money raised for March for Babies will support lifesaving research, services, education and advocacy that helps babies get a healthy start. “We are looking for family and friends to help us in this quest to save babies lives.” stated Katherine Mackland-Rivera, Director of Little Sprouts Lowell. “We are grateful to be able to participate in such a worthy cause.” The Lowell Little Sprouts Center has a goal to raise $1000.00 and is asking for help from the local community. To learn how you can participate in this event in any form please visit www.marchforbabies.org/littlesproutslowell.

Young children learn science best through daily, natural interactions with their world, and the students at Little Sprouts have a bigger, wider world with which to interact!
WGBH, the Boston PBS affiliate, has shared with the seven Little Sprouts Child Enrichment centers the curriculum based on the children's television program "Peep and the Big Wide World".
With wry and distinctive visual humor, charming plot lines, and lovable characters, Peep is designed to attract and engage children aged three to five to its science and engineering learning.
WGBH provided curriculum kits, teacher's manuals and DVDs for each Little Sprouts preschool classroom and then trained teachers not only how to use the curriculum, but how to explore.
"We're thrilled for the opportunity to partner with Little Sprouts," said Kate Taylor, Executive Producer of Peep and the Big Wide World. "WGBH and Peep are pleased to join hands with Little Sprouts in continuing the celebration of curiosity, adventure, and creativity that is central to the successful and happy development of three to five year olds."
"Too often, adults do not realize how vital it is for very young children to have a strong introduction to science," says Meghan McGinley Crowe, Executive Director of Literacy and Curriculum at Little Sprouts and trained scientist. "Early science skills are all about asking questions, exploring objects and phenomenon most people take for granted, and quantifying the world around us. Peep gives direction to a child's natural curiosity and reminds adults how wondrous the world really is."
