A strong foundation for success in school and in life: Preschool at Little Sprouts.
Ages: 2 years, 9 months to 4 years, 5 months
Ratio: 1 teacher to 10 children
Welcome to the preschool years—the most critical and pivotal two years for determining your child’s lifelong learning ability. Your talkative child is at the prime age for developing pre-reading skills and forming social relations with her peers.
Our preschool program is designed to help your child build a strong foundation for school success. She will enter kindergarten ready to learn and prepared to succeed. Using our Budding Scholars approach to early education and care, we teach your child the cognitive and social-emotional skills that will help her become a lifelong learner: problem solving, self-regulation, independence, interactive learning, and collaborative play.
Our curriculum is organized into theme-based units that address language, reading, writing, math, science, social studies, creative arts, motor skills, and social development. Our methods have earned us the Early Reading First Preschool Centers of Excellence Award from the U.S. Department of Education.
How our Budding Scholars approach helps your preschooler progress:
Citizen
Your child’s ability to share and communicate with others is just as important as learning her ABCs and 123s. That’s why Little Sprouts focuses on teaching your child the value of community. We use the HIGH/SCOPE® approach to develop your child’s ability to build relationships, which is the foundation of her ultimate well-being.
Scholar
Through Between the Lions, a research-based curriculum developed by WGBH, your child will gain the early literacy and language skills that will determine her future academic success. Our teachers also work with your child to develop her pre-writing skills, by focusing on grip and letter shape.
Mind
Our teachers use WGBH’s Peep & the Big Wide World to open your child’s eyes to the wonders of science and technology. We also build on your child’s math skills.
Body
Your preschooler will dance, sing, and achieve developmental milestones in the process with Musical Sprouts, a weekly course taught by Music Therapists from Berklee. She'll also work on her balance and strength in weekly yoga classes. And with one hour of physical activity each day, she'll learn one of the best habits for healthy living.
Assessment
Before graduating from preschool, your child will be able to achieve specific milestones.
