Executive Director

Melissa Doherty

20+ Years in Early Education

Melissa is a passionate early childhood educator with a strong background in STEM education and a commitment to building meaningful relationships with families and staff. Now based in Hingham after moving from Marshfield, she brings years of experience as a Pre-K and Infant/Toddler teacher, with a CDA in Preschool and Director II Certification through EEC. Melissa’s curriculum was featured at the STEM Summit, showcasing her dedication to hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Outside the classroom, she enjoys beach outings, walking her dog Abbie, DIY projects, and international soccer. She’s excited to support teachers and help children explore the world around them.

Assistant Director

Alyssa Paolini

With LS since 2010

Alyssa began her career as a float teacher before taking on the role of a lead teacher in the prekindergarten classroom. In December 2021, she accepted the position of Assistant Director.

As Assistant Director, Alyssa's role is to support classrooms and children to ensure successful curriculum implementation and growth. She collaborates closely with each educator to maintain classroom excellence.

Alyssa lives in Stoughton with her husband. In her free time, she enjoys reading on her Kindle, listening to music, spending time with family, and sharing a good pun or dad joke.

Classrooms are organized to support each developmental stage with appropriate group sizes and nurturing teacher-to-child ratios. At Little Sprouts Hingham: Infant classrooms enroll up to 7 children with teacher-to-child ratios of 1:3 or 2:7, Toddler classrooms enroll up to 9 children with ratios of 1:4 or 2:9, Preschool and pre-K classrooms enroll up to 20 children with a 1:10 ratio. These thoughtfully structured groups help ensure every child receives individualized attention, steady support, and a strong foundation for learning.

Yes. Our school is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to support your work schedule and provide your child with a full day of engaging, nurturing care.

Our school includes a multipurpose Discovery Room that supports hands-on exploration and movement. Families also love our weekly Pizza Friday tradition, which adds a fun touch to the end of each week.

Children enjoy music every other Tuesday with Ms. Pat. These sessions encourage movement, early literacy, and joyful group experiences.

We host regular family events such as Trunk or Treat, a parent shopping night at The Toy Box, and bimonthly parent partnership meetings. These gatherings help families stay connected and strengthen our school community.

Our team takes part in local celebrations such as the Weymouth Festival of Trees, where we donate a decorated tree to be raffled. We also join the Rockland Holiday Stroll with games, prizes, and raffles.

The physical sign at the end of our driveway can be difficult to see from the street until you are close to the entrance. Some families have suggested moving it or adding lighting, so we encourage new visitors to drive slowly as they approach.
